An “electric car community days” event gears up heading into this weekend in Stamford, Fairfield and other locations across Connecticut, showcasing electric vehicles and charging stations.
Sponsors include Northeast Utilities, United Illuminating Co., the Clean Cities Coalitions of Connecticut, Sustainable Stamford, and the town of Fairfield.
On Friday June 1, charging stations will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Government Center at 888 Washington Blvd. in Stamford, and at Fairfield”™s Sherman Green commuter lot, with the latter location also holding the same public hours on Saturday, June 2.
“Towns, companies, and utilities have been working together to install charging stations in public areas for consumers who are buying the five different models of plug-in EVs now available in the state,” said Anthony Marone, United Illuminating”™s vice president of business services, in a written statement. “This event brings people together where they can learn more about the technology, including charging at night when greater grid capacity is available.”
