Fairfield University”™s Dolan School of Business is launching a business-plan competition for its undergraduate students, with eventual plans to expand it to students enrolled in graduate programs as well.
The DSB Inaugural Business Plan Competition will award $15,000 in prize money next April.
Mukesh Sud, an assistant professor with the Dolan School, is coordinating the competition, with advisers including Hugh Davis, co-founder of Wilton-based Greenfield Online and reInvention L.L.C., and Mary Campbell, managing director of Michigan-based EDF Ventures.
Teams of up to three students will submit a one-page business plan after developing it in conjunction with a faculty member and external adviser.
“We are doing this very gradually with undergraduates only this year,” Sud said. “We hope to have 10 to 15 teams.”
Sud said teams will be able to recruit members from other Fairfield University programs but the university will not allow non-Fairfield University team members, which is allowed by some university business plan competitions.
