Pitney Bowes Inc. has promoted David Dobson to president of Pitney Bowes Management Services, an operator of corporate mail and document rooms that the Stamford-based company considered divesting last year before pulling it back from the auction block.
Dobson joined Pitney Bowes in 2008 as chief strategy and innovation officer, having previously been CEO of Ottawa-based software company Corel Corp. Before that, he was a long-time manager with Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM Corp., including leading IBM”™s former printing division.
Dobson is a graduate of McMaster University in Ontario.
Pitney Bowes Management Services was previously led by Vince De Palma. A company spokesman indicated De Palma is joining another company, without providing further detail.
Pitney Bowes Management Services increased sales 3 percent in 2008 to nearly $1.2 billion, providing enterprise mail-facility management services, document management services and litigation support. At the time Pitney Bowes announced its strategic review in November 2007, it reported having 12,000 employees within Pitney Bowes Management Services, but the company since has cut its overall payroll.
