Webloyalty.com Inc. continues to cash in on consumer”™s appetite for online coupons, maintaining its status as the fastest-growing company in Fairfield County over the past five years.
The Norwalk company ranked seventh on Deloitte & Touche USA L.L.P.”™s annual Connecticut “Fast 50” list released Friday, with 820 percent revenue growth between 2002 and 2006. It was the third consecutive year Webloyalty.com has appeared on the list; last year it topped the Connecticut Fast 50 with $108 million in revenue, a 15,151 percent growth rate since 2001 that ranked 12th on the Deloitte & Touche Fast 500 national list.
Deloitte & Touche compiles its rankings from financial information provided voluntarily by companies in technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences. Companies are ranked based on percentage revenue, including revenue derived from acquisitions. Entrants must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2002 and at least $5 million in 2006; a Connecticut headquarters; and own proprietary technology or intellectual property that contributes a significant portion of operating revenues.
The only other Fairfield County company to crack the top 10 this year was Greenfield Online Inc., a Web-based survey company based in Wilton, which registered 574 percent growth in the period studied.
Fairfield County led the state with 15 companies on the list, followed by New Haven County with 14 and Hartford County with 12.
Guilford-based Defibtech L.L.C. was by far the fastest-growth company in the state with 16,312 percent growth. Defibtech sells automated external defibrillators used to provide first aid to victims of heart attacks.
Danbury semiconductor gear maker ATMI Inc. made the list for a record 11th consecutive year, while Memry Corp. of Bethel and Triple Point Technology of Westport notched their 10th straight year on the list, along with Open Solutions Inc. of Glastonbury.
Glastonbury-based Topcoder Inc., a software recruiting firm that identifies candidates by awarding cash in programming contests, was named a “rising star” by registering 695 percent growth between 2004 and 2006; as was Higher One Inc., a New Haven company that grew 315 percent during the period running financial programs for university students.
