Construction has begun on Connecticut’s first assisted-living facility, exclusively dedicated to memory care.
Located on six acres in Bethel, Maplewood at Stony Hill will include 84 units for residents living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The building is the latest from Maplewood Senior Living, a Westport company known for it’s upscale finishes and prices.
Each floor in the facility will be divided into neighborhoods of 15 residents who will use shared living spaces and dining areas. Perkins Eastman, a design and architecture firm with offices in Stamford, helped design the facility’s “small house” concept.
“This facility will set a new standard in the state of Connecticut when it comes to looking after the wellbeing of people with Alzheimer”™s disease and other forms of cognitive loss,” said Alejandro Knopoff, a Perkins Eastman associate principal, in a release.
