The Connecticut Remembers September 11th Memorial Service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, commemorating victims of the Sept. 11 attacks at the site of Connecticut’s memorial.
New York’s Sept. 11 memorial commences at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, the moment when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower of the World Trade Center. Moments of silence will also be observed at:
”¢Â 9:03 a.m., when United Airlines Flight 175 struck the south tower;
Ӣ 9:37 a.m., when American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.;
Ӣ 9:59 a.m., when the south tower collapsed;
Ӣ 10:03 a.m., when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pa.; and
Ӣ 10:28 a.m., when the north tower collapsed.
The Tribute in Light will again illuminate the heavens over Manhattan on Tuesday night.
On Sunday, more than 4,000 motorcyclists participated in the Connecticut United Ride, with an estimated 10,000 people in 10 towns viewing the ride that began in Norwalk and ended at Bridgeport”™s Seaside Park.
Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman is the keynote speaker at the Monday event. Also on hand will be the U.S. Coast Guard Cadet Glee Club, the Leathernecks of Connecticut and Marine Gunnery Sgt. Orville Grizzle, who will sound taps.
Those attending are asked to assemble at 5 p.m.
