Gov. Dannel P. Malloy confirmed Glenn Marshall”™s resignation as commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Labor, marking the first major departure for the team Malloy installed after he took office in 2011.
Malloy said Marshall was leaving for unspecified family reasons. As of his resignation, the state had yet to commence a search for his replacement. Deputy Commissioner Dennis Murphy is acting commissioner until a full-time replacement is named.
Whereas Malloy tapped managers who were leaders in large organizations to fill several open posts in his initial administration, Marshall”™s own experience was as a labor organizer.
“The Department of Labor has made significant progress over the last eighteen months with Glenn as commissioner, and I wish him well on whatever opportunity comes next,” Malloy said in a prepared statement.
