The South Korean-born co-owner of a Norwalk floral retailer has been ordered by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to leave the country by Sept. 27.
According to a Facebook statement issued by the nonprofit Congregations Organized for a New Connecticut (CONECT), Jung Courville has been in the U.S. since 1999 and has been married to Richard Courville, a U.S. citizen, since 2003. The Courvilles have two children and operate Sarah”™s Flowers at 224 Main St. in Norwalk. The CONECT statement claimed that Courville has no criminal record and had been granted annual stays of removal since she was detained while traveling with her family in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2010, but ICE issued a deportation order on July 28 and demanded that she report to their offices by Aug. 28 with a one-way airplane ticket to South Korea.
CONECT is hosting a prayer vigil tonight at 6 on behalf of Courville at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 23 Half Mile Road in Norwalk.
