Connecticut Innovations has made a $150,000 follow-up investment in Interactive Mobile @dvertising Inc. in Westport.
“The market is embracing mobile at an incredible rate,” said Kerry Cannon, Jr., CEO of Interactive Mobile @dvertising Inc.
Cannon attributed the reinvestment to the company”™s focus in the travel and tourism sector, and its partner-leveraged user acquisition strategy.
Interactive Mobile @dvertising Inc. has begun to develop geographically focused mobile city and event guides for leisure and business visitors to popular tourist destinations in the U.S. Through a free mobile phone application and mobile website, the company provides travelers with access to destination-specific information like dining options, accommodations, transportation, shopping and attractions.
Peter Longo, president and executive director of CI, called the company”™s platform a driver in how tourists access destination-specific information and offers from local businesses.
“Interactive Mobile @dvertising continues to ride the wave from traditional advertising to digital, introducing its innovative tool to customers in a growing number of major tourist destinations,” said Longo. “We are encouraged by the strong market response to their technology.”
Interactive Mobile has launched its application in Las Vegas, New York and Orlando and will be launching 10 additional markets this year. The company also recently partnered with Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group for their two leading car rental brands, Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental.
“The new investment from CI provides added fuel to accelerate our pace and bring on more partners, sponsors, advertisers and event producers,” said Cannon.
Connecticut Innovations is the state”™s quasi-public authority responsible for technology investing and innovation development. The reinvestment in the mobile company was made through CI”™s Eli Whitney Fund.
Cannon said one of the businesses most recent development has been its Mobile Expo Guides to provide trade show attendees with maps, conference information, show announcements, exhibitor directories, promotions, and local information and offers. The company”™s platform also allows local, regional, and national travel product and service suppliers to reach and interact with potential customers.
