Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy Inc., a Stamford-based nonprofit dedicated to cell and gene therapies for cancer, has named Joshua Corday as its senior development officer.
Corday has served as the annual giving director for New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, where he has increased the hospital’s annual fund revenue and developed a unique fundraising pipeline, according to a press release from the nonprofit. Corday also has experience as a fundraising professional at Rockland Family Shelter, United Way of Essex and West Hudson and Special Olympics New York.
Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy funds physicians and researchers at medical institutions in the U.S. and Canada. The nonprofit’s stated mission is to uncover effective, innovative cancer treatments that supersede radiation, chemotherapy and surgery. The organization, founded in 2001 by Barbara and Edward Netter, said it has provided nearly $25 million in grants to date.
The Netters created the foundation after losing their daughter-in-law to breast cancer.
“With a dearth of public funding, the importance of private philanthropy in supporting cancer research and progress grows daily,” said Barbara Netter, the nonprofit’s president, in a statement. “Josh is dedicated to expanding this funding avenue ”“ he will identify and connect with donors to fight cancer.”
