Allegedly violating state law, Butler Business School in Bridgeport and two other Connecticut sister schools have closed without a 60-day notification, according to the Connecticut Post.
The private occupational schools, which awards certificates and not degrees, have left roughly 1,200 students stranded without a diploma and some with more than $20,000 in student loan debt, the CT Post reported.
Schools are required to notify the Office of Higher Education at least 60 days in advance of closing. However, a representative from the schools’ parent organization, didn’t notify officials until Dec. 30.
