The Business Council of Fairfield County is offering several scholarships for small business owners to attend financial education courses through the Community Economic Development Fund.
The scholarships will be offered to small businesses through the council’s Center for Growth Resources.
The course is taught over four nights and covers the basics of finance, business entities, balance sheets, income statements, accounting methods and taxes.
“The growth and success of businesses, large and small, is critical to the health of the communities in which we live and work,” said Vincent Kiernan, director of the Center for Growth Resources, in a statement. “We are pleased to be able to offer the scholarships.”
The classes in Stamford will start April 22.  An identical series of financial education classes will be taught in Bridgeport beginning April 23.
The Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF) is a lender aimed specifically toward small businesses. Its mission is to foster economic development by providing financial and technical support to small businesses, community operations and other initiatives and to low- and moderate-income individuals.
Those interested in the scholarships are asked to contact Nancy Gray of CEDF at 888-835-2333 extension 2040. The scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
