Following the May 17 Metro-North train collision outside of Bridgeport, bus shuttles will be running between Stamford and Bridgeport until further notice. Commute times are expected to be considerably longer.
Commuters can expect regular train service from Grand Central Terminal to South Norwalk and limited train service to Westport. Between the Bridgeport and Stamford train stations, express and local bus shuttles will be running. And between Bridgeport and New Haven, a shuttle train will be operating every 20 minutes.
Amtrak train service between Boston and New York City is suspended indefinitely.
Roughly 700 people were on board the two trains during the Friday evening commute when one train, which had been heading east, derailed before being hit by an oncoming train. The collision injured at least 70 people, according to authorities, but there were no reports of life-threatening injuries. As of Monday morning, most of the injured who were hospitalized had been released.
