Bridgeport topped the list of the 20 richest metros in America by The Atlantic.
Using a 2011 personal income report by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the magazine reported the per capita income of a resident is nearly $80,000, far surpassing any other metro region, even though the median household income in the area is only $30,000.
Midland, Texas and San Francisco placed second and third with per capita incomes of roughly $65,000 and $61,000 respectively.
Other local cities to top the list included New York City, Hartford and New Haven, ranking, in order, eighth, 12th and 18th.
