Building and Land Technology has bought a 550,000-square-foot office complex adjacent to its Harbor Point development in Stamford from Pitney Bowes Inc.
The 1 Elmcroft Road complex was Pitney Bowes’ headquarters. The global technology company moved to Summer Street last year, leaving the building vacant. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.
The office acquisition is a move to attract more tenants to the “work-live-play environment” of  Harbor Point, according to the company.
In the past five years, the peninsula has gained 2,300 apartments, several hundred thousand square feet of office space and more than 30 retailers, BLT said. CEO Carl Kuehner III said the firm has experienced strong demand for the limited remaining office availabilities in Harbor Point.
He said he expects new tenants to be drawn to the Class A Elmcroft building, which, situated at the tip of the South End peninsula, offers views of Kosciuszko Park, Stamford Harbor and the Long Island Sound and access to the Harbor Point peninsula.
“We remain bullish on Stamford and are delighted to make this new investment in the office market here,” Kuehner said. “This is a spectacular opportunity to own and redevelop an outstanding asset that will meet the needs of today”™s companies.”
