Former U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, now senior counsel at New York City-based Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman L.L.P., and colleagues from his firm hosted a symposium May 15 at the Stamford Sheraton titled “Recent Developments and Hot Topics in Government & Internal Investigations.”
The afternoon event was moderated by Lewis G. Schwartz, senior vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer of Gartner Inc., an information technology research and advisory firm headquartered in Stamford.
A panel explored topics surrounding considerations companies should examine when developing a response to an investigation; common insurance coverage issues pertaining to investigations; and the unique roles and authority of state attorneys general in such matters. Attendees numbered 30.
Speakers included Clarine Nardi Riddle, chairwoman of Kasowitz”™s government affairs practice in Washington, D.C. She is former chief of staff to Lieberman, judge of the Connecticut Superior Court, senior vice president and general counsel of the National Multifamily Housing Council and the first female attorney general of Connecticut; and Robin Cohen, chairwoman of Kasowitz”™s insurance recovery practice; and Daniel J. Fetterman, chairman of Kasowitz”™s investigations and white-collar defense practice and a former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
The event also featured a question-and-answer discussion and on-site cocktail reception.
