AmeriCares is opening a free mobile health clinic in Stamford this week to provide patients comprehensive health care including medications, lab work and diagnostic testing.
The clinic will be open three days a week and serve low-income residents in Stamford and Darien who don’t have health insurance. Once the clinic opens, it will be the only place to access free health care, if uninsured. Nearly one in five residents in Stamford doesn’t have health insurance, according to the nonprofit.
Based in Stamford, AmeriCares is a worldwide humanitarian aid organization that provides a number of services and programs for those in need. Since 1994, AmeriCare’s free clinic program has provided health care to 22,000 patients worth $50 million.
