Interpublic Group IPG reestablished Advantage International as a sports marketing agency, nearly 30 years after the company”™s initial creation.
Advantage International has offices in Darien and Los Angeles. Founded in 1983, the agency was renamed Octagon in 1997, with Octagon still an Interpublic unit based in McLean, Va. and with a Norwalk office.
Advantage International is led by Tom Haidinger, whose has worked on behalf of Major League Soccer and Six Flags, among other clients.
The Interpublic announcement came a week after the Fairfield County Public Relations Association re-launched its “Connecticut creative corridor” initiative under the new moniker C3, in an effort to draw more marketing and advertising industry companies to the area.
“There”™s a ton of agencies here and we”™re a force to be reckoned with,” said Luke Scott, creative director at Westport-based Madison Mott. “Big companies in Connecticut are looking outside of Connecticut. We want them to be looking in their backyard.”
