The Connecticut chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth scheduled its first-ever MBA case study competition for March 29 at the Shelton office of BlumShapiro.
Teams of MBA students from three schools will compete for the ACG Connecticut Cup by telling judges how they would handle business problems in the areas of investment banking, mergers, and private equity.
Participating schools include the Quinnipiac University School of Business; the University of Connecticut School of Business; and the Yale University School of Management.
Judges include Mark Campbell of BlumShapiro; Ramsey Goodrich of Carter, Morse & Mathias; Fridolf Hanson of RBS Business Capital; Jonathan Rubin of Westbury Group L.L.C.; and Rob Tucker of Capital Partners Inc.
The Chicago-based Association for Corporate Growth sponsors ACG Cup competitions throughout the country. Yale, Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University have competed in past editions of the ACG Cup; Cornell University won the New York chapter”™s ACG Cup competition last year.
The program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to network with finance professionals, while polishing their presentation and team-building skills. All three teams will receive cash awards and prizes; and the winner will have the opportunity to compete for the national ACG Cup, the first year a national prize will be awarded.
“The ACG Cup is unlike any other MBA competition in that it gives students an opportunity to work on a real investment banking case-study,” said Goodrich, who is resident of ACG Connecticut, in a prepared statement.
The Connecticut chapter will announce this year”™s winning team at ACG Connecticut”™s April 7 conference on investments in consumer product companies at the Stamford Marriott, with the Connecticut Venture Group co-sponsoring the event.
In addition to Goodrich, scheduled speakers and panelists include:
- Ian Ashken of the Jarden Corp.;
- John Bello of Sherbrooke Capital;
- Eric Dale of Robinson & Cole;
- John Kenney of TSG Consumer Partners;
- Sanjiv Mehra of Eos;
- Ashok Vasudevan of Preferred Brands and Tasty Bite; and
