University of Bridgeport administrator Mary Jane Foster is the emcee of this year”™s 40 Under 40 awards, with several area chambers of commerce recognizing rising young managers in Fairfield County companies and nonprofits.
A reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, June 17 at the University of Connecticut Stamford, which is sponsoring the event along with supporting sponsors ConnectiCare Inc. and People”™s United Bank. The Fairfield County Business Journal is publishing a special insert chronicling recipients”™ achievements.
It is the sixth installment of the awards, which recognize area businesspeople under age 40 as chosen by nine area chambers of commerce and business groups, including
Ӣ The Bridgeport Regional Business Council and affiliate organizations;
Ӣ The Business Council of Fairfield County;
Ӣ The Darien Chamber of Commerce;
Ӣ The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce;
Ӣ The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce;
Ӣ The Norwalk Chamber of Commerce;
Ӣ The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce;
Ӣ The Stamford Chamber of Commerce; and
Ӣ The Westport Chamber of Commerce.
Foster is vice president of university relations for the University of Bridgeport, with responsibilities for development, alumni, community, government and media relations. She is also the cofounder and former CEO of the Bridgeport Bluefish, a minor league baseball team in the independent Atlantic League, and early in her career was a stage and television actress who appeared in more than 200 commercials. Foster holds a law degree from Quinnipiac University.
