This year 11 companies in Fairfield County made the Fortune 500 list, which is compiled annually by Fortune magazine.
General Electric Co., a mainstay on the list as the largest company in Connecticut and the largest industrial company in the U.S., ranked eight with $146.9 billion in revenues last year. GE is based in Fairfield.
Notably, Northeast Utilities, which has a dual headquarters in Boston and Hartford, made the list at No. 402 but was counted as a Massachusetts company.
