Old Salem Farm in North Salem has announced the schedule and team behind its annual Spring Horse Shows, which will take place May 9 through 21, with a welcome weekend May 6 and 7.
The shows ”“ which offer competitions for riders in the equitation, hunter and jumper categories, ranging from young children on ponies to Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts ”“ will once again feature courses designed by Ireland”™s Alex Wade. He began learning course design at age 12 by helping designers at local shows, including his father Tommy Wade, a course designer and show jumping competitor and chef d”™equipe (team leader) for Ireland. Wade”™s courses have been seen at some of show jumping”™s most prominent events, including the 2017 Longines FEI World Cup Final and 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games. He has also been course designer at such major annual U.S. events as the Hampton Classic, Winter Equestrian Festival, Washington International Horse Show, American Gold Cup and Palm Beach Masters.
Paul Jewell will assist Wade with his designs in the International Arena and also serve as a hunter course designer alongside Nancy Wallis in the Hedge and June Road rings.”¯Returning as co-chairman of the Spring Horse Shows is five-time U.S. Olympic rider ”“ and two-time gold medalist ”“ McLain Ward.
