With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, searches for engagement rings are heating up once again. (Valentine’s is the fourth most important day for getting engaged, after Christmas, New Year’s Day and Dec. 26.)
Just in time, a new study conducted by customized jewelry experts at Glamira unveiled the most popular and iconic celebrity engagement rings by using Ahrefs to discover how many searches there are on average per month for each ring.
The most sought-after ring belongs to actress Megan Fox, who has ignited worldwide interest in toi et moi (you and me) engagement rings since Machine Gun Kelly’s proposal last year on Puerto Rico. (The toi et moi ring dates from 1796 when Napoleon Bonaparte presented the first to fiancée Josephine de Beauharnais, the two stones symbolizing the two lovers.) On average, Fox’s 18-carat engagement ring – featuring a pear-shaped diamond and an untreated Columbian emerald, also pear-shaped, side by side – receives 17,000 searches per month worldwide.
The second most popular engagement ring belongs to Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, designed the ring, which features a center, cushion-cut diamond from Botswana flanked by two diamonds that he had taken from his late mother Princess Diana’s collection. It has sparked 12,000 searches per month on average worldwide.
Diana’s actual 12-carat oval sapphire, with a halo of 14 white diamonds, graces the hand of Catherine, Princess of Wales, wife of Prince William – heir to the British throne and brother of Prince Harry. The well-publicized ring receives an average of 7,000 monthly searches.
The fourth most desired celebrity engagement ring belongs to Kourtney Kardashian, whose elongated oval-shaped ring receives an average of 5,900 monthly searches. The ring is a solitaire diamond resting on a white-gold pavé band, given to her by husband Travis Barker.
The fifth most sought-after engagement ring is that of Jennifer Lopez, a modern Elizabeth Taylor in terms of her jewelry collection. Her engagement ring from husband Ben Affleck is a five-stone square green diamond that receives an average of 5,600 searches per month worldwide.
Pound Ridge resident Blake Lively’s engagement ring from Ryan Reynolds is the sixth most sought after in the rankings. Her oval pink diamond receives an average of 5,200 monthly searches. This is ahead of Kim Kardashian’s 15-carat, cushion-cut diamond ring from now ex-husband Kanye West, with 3,700 searches per month on average.
The eighth most popular celebrity engagement ring is the one Orlando Bloom gave to Katy Perry on Valentine’s Day 2019. The flower-shaped ring consists of eight smaller diamonds hugging a deep pink stone. (This cluster-style ring has been incredibly popular among celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Penelope Cruz and Eva Longoria.) Perry’s ring receives an average of 1,300 searches per month worldwide.
Angelina Jolie has the ninth most searched engagement ring, given to her by now ex-hubby Brad Pitt. The emerald-cut diamond, which restes on smaller trapezoid diamonds, inspires many budding brides an average of 900 searches per month worldwide.
Rounding out the top 10 is the ring that rapper Offset gave to wife Cardi B for her 27th birthday. The 20-carat heart-shaped diamond rests on smaller heart-shaped diamonds for a total of 25 carats and a reported cost of more than $1 million.
A spokesperson from Glamira said:
“Celebrities’ influence expands across the globe and one of the main places potential brides look to for inspiration is their favorite celebrities, (whose rings) might just have the perfect design, shape, color or style they desire.
“However, celebrities often have the luxury and privilege of working with high-end designers and jewelers to help guide and craft their ideal ring, which can be much harder for those not in the public eye. This study offers an insight into which celebrities own the most sought-after rings and which styles, colors and shapes are the hottest in the bridal world.”
