As an extension of Westchester County’s Veteran’s Day events and tributes, Westchester County Executive George Latimer proclaimed Nov. 8 Veteran Joseph Frank Day.
Frank, a Port Chester native, was a distinguished U.S. Army combat infantryman who served this nation overseas during World War II. He earned several commendations for his service, including the Purple Heart and the American Defense Service Medal.
Today Frank holds the distinction of being the county’s oldest living veteran at age 106.
Latimer said: “We express our gratitude to Mr. Frank for his selfless service. His presence among us serves as a living link to the rich history of our nation and our county. He exemplifies the best of what has made Westchester great.”
