Inflation aside, it”™s been a good year thus far for luxury, with Forbes reporting that “the STOXX Europe Luxury 10 Index has risen by 22.81%, after reaching an all-time high in April,” thanks to the beginnings of an economic recovery in China, a huge market for luxury goods. Forbes also noted that “LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s biggest luxury conglomerate, became Europe’s most valuable company ever, with its market cap exceeding $500 billion.”
And yet Louis Vuitton is not the most popular luxury brand online. According to Luxe Digital, culling data from various sources that included Deloitte, Forbes and Google, Christian Dior is the new number one, having worked its way up from number seven in 2019. The rest of the top 10 in order are Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Rolex, Prada, Tiffany & Co., Versace and Burberry.
Ah, but which states are chasing a life of luxury, you ask? The team at”¯Chrono24,”¯a leading marketplace for luxury watches, has done a study of searches for luxury items by state to unveil which are the most luxe-loving.
It will come as no surprise that oil-rich Texas is in a class by itself when it comes to luxe-living. The Lone Star State has a singular interest in luxury brands, with a whopping 8,233,230 searches per month. That”™s 269 searches per 1,000 residents per month for 50 of the most high-end fashion and accessory brands. New York, renowned for its vibrant fashion scene, wasn”™t even close in the number two spot, with 2,498,660 monthly searches.
Indiana was a perhaps eye-opening third. Despite being a relatively small state, Indiana residents had a total of 782,800 monthly searches for luxury brands, with 114.2 searches per 1,000 residents.
Hawaii ranked fourth with 100.9 searches per 1,000 residents per month. Rounding out the top 10 in order were California, New Jersey, Nevada, Massachusetts, Illinois and Maryland. Connecticut finished just out of the top 10 at number 11 with 264,250 searches per month or 72.8 per 1,000 residents.
The state with the least interest in luxury? South Dakota, with 20,550 searches per month or 22.3 per 1,000 residents.
