Local player is part of Major League Soccer season 

John Denis of Yorktown Heights is playing in the 2023 MLS Next Pro soccer season. 

Denis, 25, is playing as a midfielder with the New York City Football Club”™s NYCFC II team. Last year, Denis played forward, leading the team in scoring with 14 goals, tied for fourth-most in the league. 

”¯Launched in 2022 by Major League Soccer, MLS Next Pro is a professional men”™s soccer league in the United States and Canada that completes the pro-player pathway. MLS Next Pro began its second season in 2023 with 27 teams, all affiliated with MLS clubs. 

”¯Denis is a graduate of Lakeland High School and attended Columbia University from 2016 to 2020, where he played in 64 games, scoring 19 goals.
