The Arc Westchester, now in its 74th year, is the largest parents’ cooperative day school in the county, serving more than 2,000 children, teenagers and adults with developmental disabilities every day. Its 17th annual “Matter of Taste” fundraiser ”“ the first since the start of the pandemic ”“ will take place on Wednesday, April 19, at the Glen Island Harbor Club in New Rochelle and will feature the signature cuisine of the area”™s best-known and admired chefs, with a wide assortment of quality wine and craft beer also offered. Individual tickets are priced at $225, with plenty of opportunity for further sponsorship, including customized VIP packages. Confirmed participants include the charming Rive Bistro in Westport; the forward -ooking, eco-committed Clocktower Grill in Brewster, celebrating 10 years in business this year; and the ever-popular Eastchester Fish Gourmet. What are tipped to be dazzling desserts will be prepared by Glen Island”™s own chef and kitchen brigade.
The event honors Steven and Elaine Masket — ambassadors, donors and fundraisers for The Arc Westchester and The Arc Westchester Foundation ”” and Zaro”™s bakery. Established in The Bronx 95 years ago, the bakery is a fourth-generation family-owned and -operated business, whose black-and-white cookies are almost as emblematic of New York as the dear old bagel itself.
