April is Dog Appreciation Month, and few people appreciate our furry, four-legged friends more than Lauren Grafer Schweibold, founding owner of”¯Madison Events in Greenwich, who recently began a giving-back initiative with the”¯SPCA Westchester in Briarcliff Manor.
Every event hosted by Schweibold”™s company saves 10 homeless dogs, with donations providing the animals with their “tickets to freedom,” covering the cost of vaccines, health certificates and transportation to the places where they”™ll start the next chapters of their lives. It”™s a significant contribution given that roughly 1.5 million shelter dogs are euthanized in the United States each year.
Schweibold”™s been a giver since childhood, a trait she learned from her parents. But her events planning career began with Bear Sterns. Her corporate experience expanded at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW) before she transitioned to the nonprofit sector and finally became her own boss in 2016. Madison Events started with an early focus in social event creation and has grown to include celebrities, Fortune 500 CEOs and other high-profile individuals and personal events, conferences, weddings and client entertainment outings.
