Westchester County, N.Y. (October 15, 2024) – On Thursday, November 21, Hillside Food Outreach will host its 2nd annual Lights of Hope bridge lighting event at The Sailhouse in Tarrytown. The event is one of Hillside’s largest annual fundraisers, with proceeds benefiting the Westchester nonprofit and its mission to deliver high-quality, nutritious food to thousands of low-income and limited mobility families, seniors, and the chronically ill each month.

The evening will feature a bridge lighting ceremony, during which the iconic Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will be illuminated in bright orange – the symbolic color of hunger – to raise awareness for the fight against food insecurity. This visual display, seen by thousands on both sides of the Hudson River, will highlight Hillside’s ongoing efforts to combat hunger in the region and the importance of the community’s support.

“We are thrilled to host Lights of Hope again this year. The need for hunger relief in our community continues to grow, and this event is a powerful way to remind everyone of the difference we can make together,” said Kathy Purdy, Founder and CEO of Hillside Food Outreach. “The bridge lighting serves as a beacon of hope, shining a light on the many families, seniors, veterans, and individuals who rely on our services.”

Lights of Hope will also recognize Westchester County for its partnership and dedication to addressing food insecurity, which affects thousands of residents across the county.

Tickets are $75 and limited to 100 guests. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. The event, taking place from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, includes passed appetizers, a cash bar, wine tasting from Napa Valley Vineyard, raffles and a silent auction. Those interested in attending or supporting Lights of Hope are encouraged to visit https://tinyurl.com/LightsOfHopeEvent.

Hillside Food Outreach relies on the generosity of community members, volunteers, and donors to continue its work. “Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity. Every act of support, whether through sponsorship, donations, or volunteer work, brings us closer to a hunger-free community,” Purdy added.

Hillside Food Outreach is headquartered in Mount Kisco, N.Y. and operates in Fairfield County through its Danbury, CT satellite location. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, call 914-747-0095 or visit hillsidefoodoutreach.org.
