Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over the emissions from a Pennsylvania power plant.
According to a PennLive.com report, Jepsen”™s lawsuit claims the EPA did not address the state”™s complaint from last June regarding the nitrogen oxide emissions from the Brunner Island coal- and gas-fired plant in Pennsylvania”™s York County. Although the plant is 175 miles from Connecticut, Jepsen claimed that its emissions contributed to air pollution in his state. A similar complaint was filed by Delaware with the EPA.
“Modeling and analysis have shown that interstate transport of air pollution from Brunner Island, a stationary source which is upwind of Connecticut, contributes significantly to nonattainment of (federal ozone standards),” stated the lawsuit, which has not been announced on Jepsen”™s website.
