WWE (NYSE: WWE) is reporting that its Aug. 5 SummerSlam event from Detroit”™s Ford Field was most-watched and highest-grossing SummerSlam in Stamford company”™s history, with new records set for viewership, gate, sponsorship and merchandise sales.
The 59,194 attendance generated $8.5 million, the largest gate for any non-WrestleMania event. The company added it was the most-watched SummerSlam in its history and was among the top three audiences since WWE programming was being streamed on Peacock.
SummerSlam also generated $7 million in sponsorship revenue, the most for any non-WrestleMania event and a 23% increase from one year ago. Slim Jim, C4 and Rocket Mortgage were among WWE”™s sponsors for the premium live event. It was also the most-viewed social media SummerSlam of all time, with over 230 million views and four million hours of video consumed, up 26% year-over-year.
In partnership with special event retail partner Fanatics, merchandise sales were up 60% versus the record set in 2021, the best merchandising performance in company history for a live event outside of WrestleMania. On Location packages set a new SummerSlam record, up 47% versus 2022.
