A new book is being released that traces The Beatles”™ contributions to the movies.
“Act Naturally: The Beatles on Film” by music journalist and historian Steve Matteo looks at the five Beatles-produced films ”“ “A Hard Day”™s Night” (1964), “Help!” (1965), “Magical Mystery Tour” (1967), “Yellow Submarine” (1968) and “Let It Be” ”“ and their respective histories and impact on both the band”™s legacy and the state of cinema. The book considers production process and original releases of the five films and their respective U.S. and U.K. soundtracks, along with their subsequent home entertainment releases and restorations.
Matteo is the author of the books “Let It Be” and “Dylan” and contributed to the collection “The Beatles in Context.” He has written for such publications as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, New York, Time Out New York, Rolling Stone, Spin, Elle, and Salon.
Backbeat Press is releasing “Act Naturally: The Beatles on Film” as a paperback book on May 15 for a suggested retail price of $24.95.
