Film at Lincoln Center in New York City announced the retrospective “Unspeakable: The Films of Tod Browning,” which presents 17 features of the iconoclastic filmmaker”™s silent and sound productions films. The retrospective will be held March 17-26 and nearly all of the films will be screened in 35mm.
Tod Browning (1880”“1962) originally came to the film industry as an actor, but gained greater notoriety behind the camera. He is best remembered today for his eerie silent era collaborations with Lon Chaney, most notably in the 1927 “The Unknown” ”“ which will be screened in a newly restored version ”“ and for his early sound era classics “Dracula” and “Freaks.”
Tickets are now on sale at $15 per screening for the general public; $12 for students, seniors and persons with Disabilities; and $10 for Film at Lincoln Center members. There are also a $79 all-access pass for the general public and a $39 student all-access passes available. For information is available on the Film at Lincoln Center website.
