Liam Neeson is back on the screen, but not in a multi-million-dollar epic. Instead, the actor can be seen in a brief video advertisement encouraging movie lovers to become members of the nonprofit Rhinebeck-based Upstate Films.
In the video titled “Straight Talk with Liam Neeson,” the actor is seated in a club chair and stares unsmilingly directly into the camera. Neeson growls, “So, Upstate Films. Be there. Support it. Okay?”
Upstate Films owns Starr Cinema in Rhinebeck and Orpheum Theatre in Saugerties. Member benefits include discounted admission tickets and invitations to free screenings, and Upstate Films pledged the first $25,000 of memberships and donations generated in June “will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor.”
