The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced last week it is providing $765,000 to Tarrytown-based Regeneron Pharmaceuticals for energy efficiency projects that Regeneron is undertaking.
As a result, Regeneron is expected to save $500,000 in annual energy costs. NYSERDA”™s money allows Regeneron to implement measures such as demand control ventilation, occupancy sensors and high efficiency rooftop units. This will help Regeneron reduce energy consumption.
NYSERDA estimates that Regeneron will save 1.2 million kilowatt hours or the equivalent of electricity consumed by 180 single-family homes.
“Our commitment to sustainability provides the framework for the decisions we make around any of our new building projects,” said Regeneron Vice President Joanne Deyo in a statement. “Our success working with NYSERDA is measured not only by our ability to drive the efficiencies that support innovation across the company, but also by a number of other quantifiable corporate social responsibility metrics like decreased energy consumption, increased cost savings, improved employee safety, health and job satisfaction.”
