In a partial return to its roots, Frontier Communications Corp. introduced FTR Energy Services alongside Stamford-based Crius Energy, with the goal of selling electricity and natural gas.
For the past few decades, Stamford-based Frontier has focused on telecommunications services, but its predecessor company Citizens Utilities Co. sold electricity, gas and water.
Frontier will market what it says will be “100 percent green” electricity and natural gas from Crius Energy, formed earlier this year through the combination of Regional Energy Holdings and Public Power, and led by CEO Michael Fallquist. Crius is the parent company of Viridian Energy, which sells through independent agents.
FTR Energy will initially begin selling in New York and Ohio.
