On Oct. 5, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will detail elements of a “comprehensive energy strategy” he is planning to introduce in the next legislative session beginning this January, according to the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA).
CBIA and the Connecticut Power and Energy Society are co-sponsoring the “What’s the Deal” business energy conference that day in Cromwell, where Malloy is slated to speak.
Other scheduled speakers include:
- Dan Esty, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection;
- Jessica Bailey, director of the Connecticut Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority;
- Matt Dunne, manager of U.S. community affairs for Google Inc.; and
- Gordon van Welie, CEO of ISO New England Inc.
The conference, which carries varying admission fees according to CBIA membership and other critera, also features an exhibition with dozens of companies showcasing products and services to help businesses reduce energy costs. Sponsors include Energize Connecticut, Pullman & Comley LLC, UIL Holdings Corp. and UTC Power.
In separate energy news, Northeast Utilities hired James Hunt as vice president of regulatory affairs and community relations, with Hunt having most recently been chief of environment and energy for the city of Boston, and previously a manager in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. Northeast Utilities owns Connecticut Light & Power Co.
