Sacred Heart University”™s School of Computer Science and Engineering has announced the debut of a bachelor”™s degree in electrical engineering program in the fall semester.
According to the Fairfield-based school, the new program”™s curriculum will focus on engineering mathematics and electrical engineering principles covering analog and digital electrical systems.
The program, which was developed in accordance with learning objectives of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc. and the academic recommendations from the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, requires 121 credits and students can complete the degree within four years. Sacred Heart cited federal statistics in noting electrical engineers earned a median pay of $97,970 in 2017.
“There are currently hundreds of electrical engineering positions in the Northeast that are unfilled,” said Tolga Kaya, associate professor and director of engineering at the School of Computer Science and Engineering. “And we know from our industry contacts that they are looking for local talent.”
