A former executive of Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft has been appointed to head the search committee to recruit the next president of the University of New Haven.
Michael Ambrose, a 1984 graduate of the university who serves as the vice chairman of the school”™s board of governors, will lead a search committee of board members, students, faculty, alumni and administration that will be supported by an executive search firm. The committee is seeking a successor for Dr. Steven H. Kaplan, who served as the university”™s president for 18 years before being named the university’s first chancellor last July. Kaplan will transition to the role of president emeritus effective July 1.
“This is an exciting time for the university as we look to advance the incredible momentum established by Dr. Kaplan during his distinguished nearly 20-year tenure,” said Ambrose. “As a proud graduate of the University, I am excited to take a leadership role in this important initiative and to work with the Charger community to identify the next president of the university.”
The search committee will begin to review applicants this fall and it is expected that a candidate would be selected in early 2024 and officially start as university president on July 1, 2024.
