Ray Dalio, the co-founder of the Westport hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, is lending his presence to a fundraising event designed to encourage financial literacy among youth.
The Council for Economic Education (CEE) is coordinating a “Lunch with Ray” auction, and the winning bidder and up to two guests will join Dalio on a lunch date to be mutually agreed upon in New York City. Bids are now being accepted online tinyurl.com/PrivateLunchWithRayDalio through April 28 at 5:00 p.m. and all proceeds will be channeled by CEE into developing and expanded access to its free classroom resources, teacher training and student programming; the opening bid is $20,000.
“The Council for Economic Education and I share the goal of helping people understand how money and economics work. I believe these skills are fundamental to people”™s well-being and are often neglected,” said Dalio in a press statement. “CEE works with K-12 students, their families and teachers through their teaching and I share my knowledge on how the economy works through my books, videos and social media. To raise money, CEE is auctioning a lunch with me in support of their efforts to ensure that all children graduate high school with this fundamental understanding.”
