Fairfield University in the fall semester will begin offering a program in nurse midwifery for students pursuing doctoral degrees in nursing practice.
The program at the university”™s Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies will prepare students to become expert nurse midwives in every stage and setting of midwifery care. Students will receive clinical experience under the supervision of a certified nurse midwife faculty member.
“The program’s philosophy highlights a dedication to trauma-informed care and perinatal loss,” said Nurse Midwifery Program Director Jenna LoGiudice. “Interprofessional simulation opportunities will occur throughout the program in the brand new Egan School Simulation Center. Midwives are the cornerstone of women’s health care and I look forward to welcoming our first cohort of midwifery students this fall.”
