Hartford”™s Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, in collaboration with Capital Community College and The Amistad Center for Art & Culture, has announced writer and educator Dr. Jelani Cobb will present the annual Pennington Lecture on Feb. 9 at 6:00 p.m.
Cobb is dean of the Columbia Journalism School, a staff writer for The New Yorker and author of the highly-acclaimed book “The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama and the Paradox of Progress.” Cobb”™s presentation is titled “The Half-Life of Freedom: Race and Justice in America Today.”
The Pennington Lecture is named for the Rev. Dr. James W.C. Pennington, a notable educator, abolitionist and theologian. Tickets for the in-person event are sold about, but the presentation can be viewed live on Zoom ”“ pre-registration is available at this site.
