Criminal Justice Camp is making its return to New Haven”™s Albertus Magnus College for the first time since the pandemic.
The one-day event takes place on June 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the school”™s Hubert Campus Center and is geared toward high school juniors and seniors (Classes of ”™24 and ”™25) who are interested in the criminal justice field. Topics of discussion and demonstration include DNA testing, crime scene analysis, K-9 unit and cybersecurity.
“When students are asked, ”˜What do you want to be when you grow up?”™, they often say they”™re interested in ”˜CSI stuff,”™ because they see it on TV and online,” said Dr. John Lawrie, associate professor and chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. “At CJ Camp, they get to see the real deal for themselves. Albertus Magnus College is committed to this camp ”“ and so happy to bring it back — because it exposes young people to a wide verity of criminal justice career paths. It is also a collaborative effort that fosters positive interactions and relationships between the police and the community.”
Registration needs to be completed by June 16, and more information is online at https://admissions.albertus.edu/register/cjcamp2023.
