Stanley Black & Decker Inc. has postponed planned layoffs from its facility in Brewster.
According to a notice posted on the New York state Department of Labor”™s website, Stanley Black & Decker”™s Powers business, on Powers Lane, was planning to lay off 35 of 150 employees beginning in August. Those layoffs have now been postponed until 2015.
The business unit, which manufactures concrete and masonry anchors and fastening systems, markets its products under the name Powers Fasteners. Founded in 1921, Powers Fasteners was acquired by Stanley Black & Decker in 2012.
The notice was filed as required by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
