Minneapolis-based Spectrum Plastics Group filed a warn notice with the state that it is closing its 30,000-square-foot Dynacept Company Inc. plant in Brewster in March and laying off 39 employees in February.
Eleven other employees will be transferred to its Ansonia, Conn. facility. The company has another location in Colorado.
Spectrum said they are closing the plant for economic reasons. Its employees are non-union and not subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
On its website, the company said the restructuring will enable Spectrum to better service its customers by giving them immediate access to every potential solution managed by project management teams.
Spectrum does prototyping, tooling and manufacturing and works with the medical, defense, industrial and electronics industries. Calls to Spectrum were not returned.
Dynacept was initially founded in Bedford Hills, but moved to Brewster in 2000.
