The 10 Best Counties In America by Movoto Real Estate
Westchester County may want to demand a recount.
Real estate website Movoto.com released a ranking of “The Best Counties in America” Thursday, and although Westchester made the list at No. 45, it was surpassed by several other counties in the region, including two Long Island counties.
Rockland County beat Westchester by two slots, finishing No. 43, but winning bragging rights in the New York City commuter set were Suffolk and Nassau counties on the island, which finished No. 20 and No. 19, respectively. Saratoga County was the only other New York county in the ranking, finishing 33rd.
New Jersey ”“ where three of New York”™s professional teams play their home games ”“ finished higher in the rankings. Somerset and Morris counties broke the top 10, with No. 6 and No. 5 showings, respectively. Bergen and Monmouth also made the ranking, finishing 17th and 18th.
Middlesex County was the only Connecticut county to finish in the top 50, ranking well ahead of Westchester and Rockland at No. 26. Pennsylvania had two counties make the ranking ”“ Bucks (23) and Chester (4), which has a town called West Chester.
The Movoto list is part of a “Big Deal” series of rankings the website produces. It determined the county rankings by looking at more than 600 counties based on unemployment rate, median household income, median rent and home price as well as high school graduation and poverty rates.
