LexisNexis, a provider of content and technology solutions for the legal, educational and government industries, said it is planning to shut down its Matthew Bender law book publishing plant in Albany. That will eliminate more than 200 New York jobs.
The company reportedly filed a notice this week with the state Department of Labor, which said 220 workers would lose their jobs once the Matthew Bender offices were closed. LexisNexis cited the economy as cause for the drastic measure.
A spokesmen for the company said some of the employees may be relocated to other work sites in New York City and Dayton, Ohio.
The offices in Albany are set to close at the end of 2014.
