The region”™s job numbers continue to inch upward.
From February 2012 to February 2013, the Westchester, Rockland and Putnam region added 2,600 private sector jobs, a 0.6 percent increase. Educational and health services added 1,700 jobs, while trade, transportation and utilities added 2,000.
Manufacturing shed 700 jobs, while construction lost 100.
Education and health services have increased jobs by more than 2 percent for the last five months.
New York, which has an unemployment rate of 8.4 percent, is one of only four states to have regained all jobs since the economic recession began. The national unemployment rate is 7.7 percent.
