Progenics gets OKÂ on drug filing
Greenburgh-based Progenics Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Salix Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Raleigh, N.C., have gained U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for a supplemental new drug application filing (sNDA) for Relistor, which is used to treat opioid-induced constipation in patients with advanced illnesses unrelated to cancer.
The drug filing followed 31 studies involving 4,000 patients, the company said.
Progenics in 2009 regained all rights to Relistor from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Pearl River, to whom it previously licensed the product. Under the terms of the agreement, Wyeth agreed to pay Progenics a total of $10 million in six installments.
