The College of New Rochelle will offer an undergraduate degree program for adults in downtown Yonkers beginning this fall.
The program, which will be offered through the college”™s School of New Resources, will be housed at the Schoolhouse Terrace Development, a collaborative effort between Boston-based housing developer The Community Builders Inc. and the Municipal Housing Authority for the city of Yonkers.
Founded in 1972, the school offers a bachelor”™s degree program designed specifically for adults 21 and older. It has graduated more than 17,000 adult learners with baccalaureate liberal arts degrees and has been recognized internationally as a model for adult education.
Officials including Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and representatives from Community Builders and The College of New Rochelle will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at Schoolhouse Terrace, at 43 Ashburton Ave.
The College of New Rochelle President Judith Huntington said the school”™s experience in adult education made an expansion to Yonkers a good fit.
“We are delighted to have this opportunity to expand our educational offerings to benefit the residents of Yonkers and to be a part of the revitalization of the downtown area,” Huntington said. “We look forward to contributing to the academic and professional development of students who will work in the area and beyond.”
The college”™s School of New Resources, founded in 1972, offers a bachelor”™s degree program designed for adults ages 21 and older.
